For lawyers

You know how to practice law. It’s everything around it that’s burying you.

Solo and small-firm lawyers wear every hat. When everything feels urgent, the most important work is often the first thing to stall.

  1. Everything feels urgent.

Your to-do list is a wall, and you can't tell what actually comes first.

  2. That one task.

A motion, a file or an email you've been avoiding for weeks, and it gets heavier every day.

  3. Busy but not moving.

You work all day, yet the work that really matters barely moves.

  4. Your brain works differently.

Systems built for other people don't stick, and you're tired of feeling behind.

  5. No one to think out loud with.

Working alone means making every decision alone.

  6. Running on fumes.

You love the work, but you can't keep running your practice like this.

None of this means you’re bad at your job. It means you need a different kind of support.

What we’ll do

  1. 1

    Clear the noise.

Get everything out of your head and onto the page so we can see what's really there.

  2. 2

    Choose your priorities.

Decide what matters most this week, and give yourself permission to let the rest wait.

  3. 3

    Break down the stuck task.

Turn the thing you've been avoiding into small, concrete next steps.

  4. 4

    Begin together.

Spend focused co-working time actually starting, with someone in the room.

Built for real brains

Support that works with your brain, not against it.

Many lawyers have ADHD, autism, anxiety, or are simply wired differently, and law practice was rarely designed with them in mind. My approach is practical, structured and judgment-free. You don’t need a diagnosis to benefit, and you don’t need to explain yourself.

A calm, focused workspace with notebook, sticky notes and headphones — designed for how your brain actually works
  • Body doubling that works.

Starting is easier when someone works alongside you.

  • Small, concrete steps.

We shrink tasks until the first step feels obvious.

  • No shame, no lectures.

We deal with where you are, not where you think you should be.

  • Systems that fit you.

We adapt the process to you instead of forcing you into someone else's.

For people representing themselves

Handling your own divorce? You deserve to understand the process.

Representing yourself can feel like walking into a building without a map. Through clear, plain-English education, I'll help you understand the steps, the paperwork and what to expect, so you can make informed decisions and feel more prepared.

Know what documents and information you'll likely need.

  • Feel prepared.

Walk in knowing the basics instead of guessing.

Meet Irene Pons

Lawyer. Professor. Your clear-headed guide.

I’m Irene Pons, a practicing lawyer and a college professor. I’ve spent my career in two places: the practice of law and the classroom. In both, I’ve seen the same thing. Smart, capable people get stuck when the work is complicated and no one explains it clearly.

I started irenethelawyer to bring a teacher’s clarity and a lawyer’s practicality to two groups I care about. One is lawyers who are carrying too much on their own. The other is people who are navigating divorce without a lawyer.

My approach is simple: clear priorities, plain language and small steps that build real momentum.

FAQ

Questions, answered

  • We spend about the first half getting clear: what's on your plate, what matters most and what's stuck. Then we break the stuck task into steps and spend focused co-working time getting started together.

  • Not at all. The sessions are designed to be neurodivergent-friendly, but any overwhelmed solo or small-firm lawyer is welcome. No diagnosis or explanation needed.

  • No. Coaching is practical, work-focused support. It isn't therapy, and it isn't legal advice on your clients' matters.

  • Sessions are held online by video, so you can join from your office or wherever you work best.

  • No. It's general education to help you understand the process. It doesn't create an attorney–client relationship, and rules vary by state. For advice about your specific situation, consult a licensed attorney in your jurisdiction.
